Physical Properties:Polycarbonate has a density of 1.18–1.20 g/cm³, high light transmittance and outstanding impact toughness. At room temperature it exhibits considerable forced high-elastic deformation and can be cold-formed by cold pressing, cold drawing or cold rolling. Its melt viscosity is relatively high, so thorough drying is required before processing; moisture content should be kept below 0.02%, otherwise white turbidity, silver streaks and bubbles may occur during high-temperature processing. It also offers good heat resistance and dimensional stability.
Uses:Polycarbonate is widely used in electronic/electrical products, automotive parts, architectural glazing, medical devices and food packaging. It can be processed into optical lenses, lamp covers, instrument panels, protective shields and high-transparency bottles. Through alloying with other polymers, such as PC/ABS and PC/PBT, processability and stress-crack resistance are improved, enabling applications in automotive interior/exterior trim, power tool housings and similar fields.
