As an atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) initiator, it initiates controlled radical polymerization of acrylates, styrene and other monomers to produce well-defined polymers such as block, graft and star copolymers. It is also used in functional modification of polymer materials and mechanistic studies in scientific research.
